R. Christopher Bouton

I graduated from Rome Free Academy High School in 1987 and then went on to Canisius College in Buffalo, NY to receive my BA in biochemistry. I then entered SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse and received my BS in Physical Therapy.

Early on in my professional career, I studied for three months in an intensive program in Minnesota obtaining a diploma in the McKenzie method of mechanical diagnosis and treatment. This is a rare honor that only a couple of hundred people in the country hold.

I opened the doors to Bouton Physical Therapy in April of 2001. Since then, my business has grown to great proportions. I am proud to offer my hometown community a comfortable and friendly place for rehabilitation.

I reside in the town of Lee and enjoy boating and snowmobiling with my friends and family in my spare time.

Being a small business owner has proven to be a challenging, yet exciting opportunity. I look forward to growing and expanding my business.

Eric Furbeck, MSPT

I've been with Bouton Physical Therapy since 2002. I came to Rome over six years ago with the intention of staying in the area possibly six months. Now I'm happily married to a Roman, Erika, and we now have a home here in Rome. I was born and raised in Syracuse, graduated from Henninger High School and received my Master's from Ithaca College in 1998.

My experience in physical therapy includes acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, nursing home, home health, and outpatient orthopedic settings. I'm always furthering my clinical skills with continuing education.

When I'm not working, I'm enjoying time with my wife, daughter Brynn, family and friends — most of whom are now in this area. I am also active with church and enjoy snowboarding, mountain biking, and playing basketball.

Jeffrey A. Brown, PTA

In 1999 I graduated from OCC in Syracuse, NY with an Associate's degree as a physical therapist assistant. I have been working in the outpatient setting for seven years and have completed many continuing education courses in that time. I started working at Bouton Physical Therapy 2 years ago and am very happy here. The patients and staff make it a fun atmosphere to be in everyday.

I grew up in Camden and now reside in the town of Lee with my wife, Joann, and two sons, Cole and Ethan. When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love the outdoors and activities such as hunting, camping, and playing guitar.

Melissa J. Smith, MSPT

I have been employed at Bouton Physical Therapy since June 2005 after receiving my Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Utica College. Prior to that, I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Health Studies from Utica College and an Associate's Degree in Math & Science from Mohawk Valley Community College. Recently I decided to return to school to further my education. I am currently studying part time at Utica College to achieve the degree of Doctor of Physical Therapy.

These past two years at Bouton Physical Therapy have helped me develop my clinical skills and given me the opportunity to treat a diverse patient population. I love the family atmosphere here and I feel the patients benefit from the warmth and friendliness of our staff.

I currently live in Westernville, NY and when I am not at work I enjoy hiking, reading, snowboarding, and spending time with family and friends.
